Meet Ulises

Father | Public Servant | Small Business Owner

Councilman Ulises Cabrera was born in Los Angeles, California. His family started with very little money, but their motivation, determination, and vision for the future has helped them actively pursue the American Dream. Family, faith, and service to others are central to Councilman Cabrera’s life, and that is why he decided to run for office at the age of 21. He was elected at the age of 22, becoming the youngest Councilmember in the City’s history, and was re-elected to a second term in 2018. Ulises is currently expecting his first baby boy with his amazing fiancé Carina, and they couldn’t be happier or more excited to welcome the newest member of their growing family.

His mother, father, sister, and brother have always been a tight knit family. His father Martin is a carpenter by trade and in 2016, together with his brother Martin Jr., the three of them started a General Contracting company called UMC2 Construction. His mother immigrated from Mexico over 30 years ago, and though she has worked her entire life, she has always been available to help the family whenever necessary.

Ulises graduated Cum Laude from the University of California Riverside with a degree in Political Science: Law and Society. He also attended Moreno Valley College, and Valley View High School. In the future, Ulises plans on continuing his education, by pursuing a masters in Urban Planning and a law degree.
